The Future is Blue

The UOcean Project® is an Award-winning charity that is on a mission to remove #1billionkilos of marine pollution (plastic) by 2030. Their motto ‘CLEAN, PROTECT and RESTORE’ showcases how the company creates, establishes and implements plastic clean-up across the UK.

I contribute to the charity’s efforts by volunteering as part of a team of eco-warriors. Our primary activities involve collecting plastic waste, and I also document these events through photography and video. The aim is to primarily raise awareness through social media channels.

Project Detail

A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite sense of mere.

My primary role, which involves capturing photos and videos, plays a pivotal role in the charity’s mission to convey its identity, purpose, and motivation. The content I produce is centered around showcasing the tangible impact and the individuals dedicated to minimizing plastic waste. Each photograph carries a narrative beneath the surface, and these stories serve as valuable assets for the charity’s presentations, discussions, and events, extending beyond the realm of social media.

Locally - Leicester

We actively contribute to UOcean’s local efforts in Leicester by participating in cleanup initiatives and lending my skills in photography and videography. The teams involvement not only supports the organization’s mission of environmental preservation but also helps document the impact of our collective actions. Through the visual media we create, we’re able to showcase the positive changes happening on a local level, inspiring others to join our cause and fostering a greater sense of community engagement in environmental conservation.

Nationally - UK

Our work with UOcean has transcended local boundaries and expanded its reach nationally across the UK, extending our efforts to various regions such as Weymouth, Suffolk, Northampton, and even the bustling cityscape of London. This broader scope has allowed us to replicate our successful initiatives, implement cleanup projects in diverse environments, and spread awareness on a grander scale. By taking our commitment to preserving our oceans and environment to new regions, we’re fostering a collective sense of responsibility and inspiring communities across the nation to come together for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Globally - UK, Italy & Bali

Our commitment to ocean conservation and environmental stewardship knows no boundaries. By extending our reach across continents, we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with international partners and engaging in projects that have a profound impact on our planet’s well-being. From the pristine beaches of Bali to the picturesque landscapes of Italy and beyond, our global journey reinforces our dedication to a cleaner, more sustainable world that transcends borders and unites us all in a shared mission of environmental preservation.

Building a long lasting relation!

Collaborating with local charities offers numerous advantages, and one of the most exciting experiences has been partnering with the London Diving School to learn scuba diving!

Given my background, water had always carried a certain unease. My father’s fear of water, coupled with my own fear of heights, made swimming a formidable challenge. Although I had brief swimming lessons during my youth, they didn’t persist for long. However, I was determined to overcome this hurdle.

Setting a one-month goal to relearn swimming and obtain the scuba diving qualification, I enlisted the help of a close friend who guided me in regaining my breathing techniques and refining my strokes.

The certification process spanned three days. The initial day involved assessing my water skills and equipment training. Breathing underwater felt surreal but surprisingly natural after a short adjustment period.

The real tests took place on the second and third days as we ventured into open waters, applying the skills acquired thus far in a vast lake. Removing my mask and breathing apparatus underwater proved to be one of the most challenging yet exhilarating experiences, as it felt inherently unnatural and somewhat daunting. After successfully passing all the tests, the final dive on the third day allowed me to fully explore the underwater world, including encounters with fish, swimming over a submerged car, and navigating through the interior of a sunken plane. These unforgettable experiences have left an indelible mark on me.

I extend my gratitude to UOcean and The London School of Diving for this incredible opportunity, and I am eagerly anticipating the possibility of utilizing my newfound underwater skills for future filmmaking endeavors.
